Cathy Stein retires after 40 years of nursing

On the 22nd of August 2024, Cathy Stein retired after her illustrious career at Barraba Multipurpose Service. The Barraba community would like to congratulate Cathy on a successful career. This is a huge milestone in anyone’s life, and we express immense gratitude for her hard work and dedication to the Barraba Multipurpose Service and its team.

Cathy has worked at Barraba Multipurpose Service for the past 40 plus years, 20 of those years as the Barraba Health Service Manager. Cathy has led us through some very difficult times, most recently with Covid-19, one of the hardest world-wide pandemics we have experienced.

Cathy’s contributions will always be valued and remembered and her hard work, commitment and dedication are worthy of admiration. Cathy will be greatly missed, and filling her shoes will be an almost impossible task.

Kim Peake has been appointed Acting Health Service Manager while a full recruitment process is undertaken by Hunter New England Health in the coming weeks.

Cathy has supported and mentored many staff in furthering their career, from school-based trainees through to Registered Nurses over her career ensuring the best and most professional health care possible for our community.

On Wednesday 21st of August a staff BBQ lunch was held where current and some ‘old’ staff wished her well.

Cathy can retire knowing her legacy of kindness and professionalism will continue to inspire us. May your next chapter be as rewarding as your career has been for us. On behalf of everyone at the Barraba Multipurpose Service, we would like to wish Cathy the best of luck.
