Great night at Australia Day Awards
Great night at the Barraba Australia Day Awards
A large and happy crowd gathered on the lawn in front of the Barraba Golf Clubhouse on a very warm evening. They were welcomed by the Barraba Band, MC Helen Rixon, and Councillor Helen Tickle. Young Xavier Darlington lead the Acknowledgement to Country.
Australia Day Ambassador Dr Tanya Silveira-Price gave an inspiring address, reflecting on the meaning of Australia Day to our First Nation peoples, and to Indian-Australians such as herself. She then presented all the nominees for
Awards with their certificates and announced the winners in the three categories.
The formal part of the evening over, the crowd then enjoyed drinks, a meal, and entertainment from the Brothers Hollow and Al Buchan and the Buccaneers as the evening cooled.
