Residents of the Tamworth Region are being reminded they can use their free quarterly waste vouchers to dispose of their green waste. On July 1, when Council’s Fees and Charges for 2023-2024 took effect, a fee for green waste was among the new ones added.

Tamworth Regional Council Director Water and Waste, Bruce Logan, said a new fee was added for green waste because the cost of processing the material exceeded the revenue generated by the resale of the resulting compost.

“Residents are able to access four free waste vouchers each financial year using our online self-service platform, which can be used to dispose of green waste provided it follows all other waste voucher terms and conditions such as allowed volumes. Any residents who do not have access to a computer or smart device can call our customer service team on 6767 555 and they will help with the process or you can call in to one of Council’s offices for help.” Mr Logan said.
