Council’s Community Plan set to go on public exhibition

Our Community Plan 2023-2033 – Council’s 10-year Community Strategic Plan – is expected to go on public exhibition next week following Tuesday’s Council meeting.

Informed by the Community Survey which sought community input in December, 2021 and January this year, Council has developed a number of plans for the region including Our Community Plan (The Plan) 2023-2033, Our Resourcing Plan 2022-25, Our Annual Plan and Budget 2022-23 and Our Delivery Plan 2022-25.

Our Community Plan is a community-owned strategic plan for the future of the Tamworth region.

Tamworth Region Mayor, Russell Webb said “If you feel passionately about what we do at Council, now is the time to have your say on the plans that guide that.”

Community feedback on The Plan is crucial to helping achieve the goal of creating a world-class regional centre, a great place to live, to work, to study and to visit.

“Community members live, work and play in the region every day and know the region better than anyone else, so their knowledge and feedback is essential to shaping the future of the region,” said Cr Webb.

“Council does a lot of diverse and great work across a variety of areas however this plan creates the framework for Council to focus on what the community deems to be a priority. With this plan, Council will be able to focus on what is important to the community in a strategic way and build a better region for the future.”

The Plan sets out the directions and strategies for the Tamworth region over the next ten years with its focus areas aligning the themes of Council’s Blueprint 100 Strategy.

The draft Plan will go to the Council Meeting on Tuesday 10 May for endorsement before a period of public exhibition begins on Wednesday 11 May, 2022. Community engagement will kick-off with the first of several regional pop-ups outside Target on Peel Street, Tamworth following a media launch.

To have their say, community members can head to the MyTRC Online Community during the public exhibition period from Wednesday 11 May to Tuesday 7 June, 2022, https://haveyoursay.tamworth.nsw.gov.au. A schedule of face-to-face community pop-up events will soon be released, and will take place across the region during May.

Once the public exhibition phase is complete it will go back to the Tamworth region Councillors for amendments and final endorsement.
