RAT ROLLOUT IN RESIDENTIAL DISABILITY SETTINGS

People living and working in disability funded residential settings in the region will begin receiving free Rapid Antigen Tests from this week to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson welcomed the announcement which would support those most vulnerable in the community and those who care for them.

“This initiative will see RAT tests rolled out to ensure people with disability can be best supported safely at home, helping to ensure our most vulnerable are not exposed to COVID,” Mr Anderson said.

“The NSW Government is committed to ensuring tests are distributed to protect our most vulnerable, free of charge while the pandemic continues to pose a risk.”

The kits will be distributed to disability service providers by staff in Hunter New England Health.

People with disability can also purchase testing kits using their NDIS plan funding or access their free allocation from community pharmacies available for those who hold Commonwealth Health Care or Concession Cards.
