2nd round of the golf club championship

8th June 2022

Golf Notes

On Sunday a good field of players contested the second round of the Club Championships for a trophy donated by Campbell Tonkin.

The winner of the trophy for best net score on the day was decided after a four-way countback with the players all finishing on net 69. Mike Artis 69 just edged out ball winners Craig Rutley 69, Tom Mellor 69 and Kevin Kelaher 69 to claim Campbell’s trophy. Balls also went to Dave McMurtrie net 71, Gary Allen 72 and Daniel Anderson 73.

NTPs went to Firmen Allan on both the 3rd and 6th whilst Craig Rutley claimed an NTP on the 12th after his tee shot hit the flag stick to finish a few feet past the hole.

In the only match play result Amanda Koopman defeated Ian McColl 5 and 4.

The Club Championship format now allows players to take their 2 best scores over the first 3 rounds whilst the 4th and final round must be played and counted in their overall 54 hole championship score.

After the first two rounds of the Men’s Championship Craig Rutley on 152 leads by one shot from defending champion Kevin Kelaher on 153 with Peter York one shot further back on 154. The overall Championship net event sees Tom Mellor on 131 and Craig Rutley on 135 establishing a good buffer from a number of players sitting around 140.

In our Ladies Club Championship Amanda Koopman posted a 91 on Sunday to lead Lyn Simpson on 92 with Lib Thompson on 100 and Kerrie Smith on 102. Kerrie Smith leads the net with 72 just ahead of Lib Thompson on 74.

Next week we will play an Individual Stableford for the Betty Artis Memorial trophy.
