Rugby results after games in Bingara and Inverell

Rugby Union News
The Barraba/Gwydir teams travelled to Bingara for games against Narrabri, for the girls, and Inverell for the boys.
The girls came up against a bigger pack of forwards and some very slick backs, who on numerous occasions cleared out for run away tries and it was not long before the score was 0-17 to Narrabri. The score came to 0-36 before Barraba won a tight head scrum and from there Kaila Gillogoly ran away for a try with the conversion attempt hitting the post for a score of 5-36. Narrabri scored a further try for a 41-5 score. The game was stopped shortly after due to a head knock.

The Ram/Rats did not start the game very well with a missed tackle close to the try line and were under pressure giving away a scrum penalty, which saw Inverell score near the posts from the next play for a 0-7 lead after 5 minutes.
The defence improved and with a good share of the ball the backs started to make inroads to the Inverell half. With the forwards working well, secured a good ruck ball and Abra moved into scrum half and got the backline going for Mack to score, conversion failed 5-7.
The home side’s backs were creating plenty of opportunities with strong running and good ball control. Abra, at the 5/8th, running the game with some deft kicking which allowed O’Sullivan to gather a ball on halfway and show a clean pair of heels out wide, 10-7.
Another kick from Abra, behind the defence, saw a chance missed near the try line, resulting in a scrum. The backs were still throwing the ball around, making inroads up the field for O’Sullivan to score again out wide for a 10-7 lead. Shortly after Abra put a kick in behind the defence to follow through and gather to score and Rafter converted for 17-7 at half time. Just after the start of the second half Penrose knocked the ball on with a try begging and Inverell then applied some pressure for the half back to score 17-12.
Once again Barraba/Gwydir were giving away silly penalties for not releasing the ball, going over the ball, sealing off the ball and not on their feet. Preston was given a yellow card and Inverell applied some pressure and easily made ground up the field, again with easy penalties.
Will Robinson was next to score after good forward play created pressure on the visitors for a 22-12 score line and ten minutes remaining. Two more penalties, one for a high tackle kept play in mid-field, with Inverell using the forwards to move up the field until Will Robinson drove a player over the sideline in a perfect tackle, much to the crowds delight and a win for the home team.
