16 May @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Tamworth Agricultural Institute, 4 Marsden Park Rd Calala. Free

Held as part of our Small Farms Network program, these free property planning workshops will guide you through developing a farm plan by creating realistic goals to achieve your desired outcomes for your property.

The course will be held in small groups of up to 12 businesses or properties and take place over 5 monthly workshops at the Tamworth Agricultural Institute and/or participants’ properties and one online group coaching session.

Sessions will take place from 9am to 3pm, with time for morning tea and lunch. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

Over five workshops, participants will:

  • identify the vision for their farm
  • complete a stocktake of soil, plant, water and natural capital resources
  • understand how to sustainably manage resources
  • create an action plan including budget and monitoring
  • participants will have the opportunity to discuss their progress at an online catch up at a time agreed after the plans have been developed

Participants will have the choice between bringing a computer with them and using Google Earth or using paper maps and transparent slides.

The facilitator is Callen Thompson, Consulting Partner AgSTAR Projects and farmer. Callen is an accredited PROGRAZE deliverer, training producers in grazing management and production targeting for state government as well as corporate agriculture. Callen’s background in agronomy has developed strong skills in soils, pasture species selection and weed management. Callen runs a beef property on the foothills of the Warrumbungles in NSW.
