Barraba involved in food buying survey

Barraba involved in national first engagement of rural communities

Barraba locals and those from surrounding communities are being asked to share stories of their food buying experiences through the new Map My Food Barraba online survey. Map My Food Barraba will collect information such as where people shop, how far they travel to shop for food, what they buy and why they choose to shop where they do. It will also ask the community to suggest ideas for improving access and availability of good quality and affordable healthy food in Barraba, because being able to have healthy food will help support good health in regional and rural areas.

Barraba local Penny Hand is Barraba’s Community Engagement Officer. She will be on the ground in the community regularly sharing information about how you can contribute and will be available to assist where needed. You can find Penny at the library, Frocks & Locks and other local events throughout the engagement period between 8th September and 8th December 2025. The data we gather will help us identify ways to make healthy choices the easier option in rural communities and help drive change.
