TRC Meeting 10th June '25 report

18th June 2025

Council Meeting Update

Here is an overview of outcomes from the Ordinary Meeting of Tamworth Regional Council Tuesday 10 June, 2025:

             Councillors have tonight adopted the On-Site Sewage Management (OSSM) Operational Strategy after its 56-day public exhibition earlier this year received minimal feedback. The strategy uses a risk-based criteria to determine appropriate inspection frequency for OSSM systems, ensuring their sustainable operation and aligning with Council’s On-Site Wastewater Management Plan.

             After being deferred from a Council Meeting in December last year to allow further consultation with residents, Councillors tonight endorsed a Development Application seeking to create more homes in Oxley Vale. A report to Council said the proposed development includes the demolition of existing buildings at 15 Manilla Road, as well as the staged development of a multi-dwelling community title subdivision. The applicant will need to meet a number of conditions to alleviate concerns raised by residents through submissions and a petition of 52 signatures.

             An amendment to the Tamworth Regional Development Control Plan 2010 (DCP) has tonight received Councillor approval to go on public exhibition later this month. Draft Amendment No 18 to the DCP seeks to update the East and West Tamworth Heritage related controls chapter within the DCP to ensure there is consistency across both the Tamworth Regional Local Environmental Plan 2010 and DCP planning documents. The second matter to be addressed under the draft amendment is to correct a typographical error related to DCP Amendment No. 17 that was adopted in 2024, which relates to sewer reticulation requirements for lots where the Lot Size Map sets a minimum size of 4,000m².
