Rugby Notes - winners and losers in Quirindi

26th July 2022

Rugby Notes

The Barraba/Gwydir teams travelled to Quirindi on the weekend to play the locals and came home with a win and a loss.

In the girl’s game numbers were a problem, a 7 a side game was played with help from a couple of Gunnedah players. They must have put a spark in the Barraba squad as they finished 53-0 in a big win. Points to;

  2. Katie
  3. Peta

Next week the girls go to Tamworth for a game, possibly against the Pirates.

In the men’s game the scores were close for most of the game, with a 15-15 score with 20 minutes to go. Barraba let in a couple of tries to give Quirindi a 39-15 result.

Reports say, play was solid for most of the game, before Barraba let the home team dominate at the end of the second half. One of the features of the game was two tries to Crouch. I don’t know if it was through the forwards or in the backs, but needs some more involvement. Points;

Player’s Player     N. Sweeney

  1. A Crouch
  2. W. Robinson
  3. N Sweeney

On Saturday Barraba/Gwydir travel to Bingara to play Moree at 3pm.

Don’t forget the oldies game to be played on the 13th August at Pirates. See G. White to get a run on the day.
