First Round of the Club Championships

11th May 2022

Golf Notes

Players contested the first round of our Club Championships on Sunday playing for a trophy donated by Amanda Koopman. The Club Championship format now allows players to take their 2 best scores over the first 3 rounds of play with it being compulsory to play and include the 4th and final round.

Our Mens’ Club Championship first round leader is Craig Rutley who carded a good 4 over par 75, including one over the fence on the 14th, to currently lead by two shots from Peter York on 77.  Other players just off the pace include Kevin Kelaher 80, Firmen Allan 80, Shane Middlemiss 81, Tom Mellor 82, Phil Hiscock 83, Josh Austin 83 and Daniel Anderson 84.

In our Ladies Club Championship Lyn Simpson is our first round leader on 92 ahead of Kerrie Smith on 103.

Tom Mellors 82 off the stick gave him a very good net 62 to claim Amanda’s trophy. I understand he was trying to buy a beer for the handicapper at the nineteenth. Runner up in the net event was Craig Rutley net 66 with balls going to Josh Austin 67, Campbell Tonkin 69, Daniel Anderson 70, David York 71, Shane Middlemiss 71, Kerrie Smith 72, Ian McColl 72 and our resident chocolatier Paul Grigg on 72. NTPs went to Campbell Tonkin 3rd and Tom Mellor on the 6th.

In singles match play results Ian McColl just got over Peter York 2 up whilst Craig Rutley with his great round was too strong for Will Sedgwick 5 and 4.

Next week we will play an Individual Stableford for a trophy donated by Bevan Benson. The week after the men will play on the Saturday 21st May in a 4 Ball BAM for the Sedgwick/Capel trophy whilst the 2022 Barraba Ladies Open will be played on Sunday 22nd May.
