Nathan Bell - Rely-Ability
Nathan Bell - Rely-Ability
Nathan Bell is an author and artist with Schizophrenia. He has appeared on radio stations, in newspapers and in magazines all over Australia including on the ABC three times. Nathan was born in Wollongong in 1986 then moved and grew up around the Hunter Valley.
Nathan is fortunate to be a client of the creative arts focused NDIS service Rely-Ability. Rely-Ability pairs NDIS participants with creative industry professionals who support them with their projects. With support from Rely-Ability Nathan has self-published six books and sold over 3000 copies. All his stories are set in Australia and his dream is to help Aussie cinema by having them all produced as movies filmed here.
Several times a week Nathan attends Rely-Ability's creative arts center in Newcastle which they call the hub. The hub is fully equipped with leading production software and hardware, musical instruments and art supplies. At the hub Rely-Ability's expert staff assist him with all of his creative activities.
Next year staff from Rely-Ability will be supporting Nathan and several other clients to attend the Tamworth country music festival and busk on the street. Support workers will be taking the clients camping and helping them throughout the days of street performing. Nathan will be setting up in the street to sell books and art created by himself and other clients during the festival.
