18th June 2024

Here are the facts about the Special Rate Variation:

The rate rise is needed because of the widening gap between TRC income level and the growing costs of providing current services and infrastructure across the region.

The IPART approved permanent increase is for 36.3% over two years.

Current rates across the Tamworth region are in fact significantly below the group average compared with other group 4 Councils including Albury, Dubbo, Broken Hill, Armidale, Bryon, Ballina and Eurobodalla.

Two thirds of the proposed SRV will be allocated to our roads and transport network.

We have already implemented a range of efficiency and productivity improvements to create operational savings.

We are aware the community are doing it tough as well and have reviewed our Hardship Policy to ensure the most vulnerable in our community can get support.

Anyone who receives an Australian Government pension/income support payment will receive additional rebates if the SRV is implemented.
