Barraba Central School Principal's Report

8th November 2023

From the Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,

I am delighted to share some exciting updates from Barraba Central School as we dive into the fourth week of Term 4. Our students have been actively engaged in various activities, showcasing their talents and skills inside and outside the classroom.

First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our Secondary Debating Team and Public Speakers for their outstanding effort in the recent competition against Bingara Central School. Your hard work and dedication are truly commendable, and we are immensely proud of your achievements.

It's inspiring to witness our Year 10 and 11 students mastering essential skills such as working at heights, operating scissor lifts, handling power tools, and learning first aid. These practical skills are invaluable and will undoubtedly serve them well in their future endeavours. Moreover, I am pleased to announce that our students will participate in a shearing school next week, further enhancing their hands-on experiences and knowledge.

Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming School Swimming Carnival on Thursday, Week 6. I encourage all our students to participate wholeheartedly, embracing the spirit of friendly competition. I am particularly excited about Copeton's performance and am confident they will bring home the victory in the war cry event.

On Friday, Week 6, our Secondary students will embark on an enriching journey to Tamworth to participate in the Stand Up program. This initiative has proven incredibly impactful, as observed from the experiences of students who attended last year. This year's participants will find the day both enlightening and empowering.

I am also pleased to share that Mrs. Bell and I have had the privilege of engaging in meaningful discussions with our Year 10 and 11 students and their parents. These conversations centred around mapping out their pathways through senior school. It's heartening to see our students demonstrating a clear sense of direction and purpose as they plan for their futures.

Lastly, a gentle reminder to mark your calendars for our upcoming Presentation Day on Tuesday, Week 10. This day is dedicated to celebrating the remarkable learning journeys and achievements of our students throughout 2023. We invite all parents and guardians to join us in honouring their accomplishments and recognizing their hard work.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and let's continue to foster a nurturing environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Warm regards
