Barraba Golf update

Golf Notes – 13th August 2023
Sunday 13th August was the 2 Person Ambrose, with golfers playing for the Turning Heads Beauty Salon Trophy. The magnificent pairing of Liam Johnston and Craig Ruttley was beaten by only 0.25 of a point by the sneaky Rob and Chris Sweeny. Third place went to David York and Tom Mellor.
William Sedgewick played with his bestie golfing partner Campbell Tonkin and almost got third with a score of 64.5, which means Will probably let Campbell down.
Next week is 4 Ball Best Ball, playing for the Sneaky Sweeny’s Trophy. See you all next week and happy hitting.
Golf Notes – 20 August 2023
What a day for golf. The weather turned it again on after a colder week last week. The game was 4 Ball Best Ball Stableford for the C. & R. Sweeney and S. Middlemiss Trophies.
The sneaky Sweeney’s came in boasting of a 50-point score, but a review of the scorecards showed otherwise. The real winners were Flaming S. Faint and loyal straight hitter P. Grigg, who saved on golf buggy fuel again, cruising down the middle of the fairway to score 46. On a count back for 2nd place with an impressive score of 46 were lady golfers A. Smith and K. Smith. Also scoring 46, C. Tonkin carried his faithful friend W. Sedgewick to 3rd place on a great day of tight golf.
- Anderson and F. Allan came in with a great score of 45, which any other day would have taken the win. Nearest To Pin went to R. Fisher on the 3rd, and again on the 16th, as well as B. Simpson on the 6th.
In team match plays, S. Faint and P. Grigg dominated C. Tonkin and W. Sedgewick. But the most impressive win was A. Smith and K. Smith smashing I. Cabot and J. Austin.
Next week is our last round of the Club Championship, playing for Captain Ian Cabot’s trophy. If C. Sweeney wins, he’ll take out the Championship. But let’s hope he gives everyone a chance. See you next week for another great day of golf.
Happy golfing everyone!
