Narrabri win in the rugby

1st August 2023

Rugby Report

Barraba travelled to Narrabri on Saturday with a Ram team, while the Ewes had to forfeit owing to a shortage of players.

The Rams started off well and led the game early, with forwards having the better control in the clashes for supremacy. Reports stated the team had the chances to win but could not finish the job, with Jack Mallise getting over the line but the try was not awarded. Narrabri eventually won the game 24-15 in what was described as a good close hard-fought match.

Second Grade points with three rounds to go see the Rams in the top 4. Pirates 71, Narrabri 58, Moree 51, Barraba 44, Gunnedah 38 and Quirindi 34.

Points for the game were;

Players Player A. McNiven

3             J. Mallise

  1. A McNiven
  2. N. Sweeney

This coming Saturday we are to play Walcha here, if they have a team, we will not know until Thursday. They got a team at home last weekend. On the 12th the Rams travel to Scone then play Moree in the last comp game.

On the way home from Moree the Horton Club had a barbeque for the players, which is always a hard place to bypass. So, thanks to the organisers for the effort.
