Summer School Holiday program announced

No need to be a couch potato these school holidays, there is plenty to do outside of the country music festival following the announcement of the Summer School Holiday program.

Tamworth Regional Council Team Leader Inclusive Community Katey Allwell said the summer program accommodates for athletic, creative and inquisitive children.

“We run programs at the Tamworth Sports Dome, Tamworth Regional Youth Centre, Tamworth Regional Gallery and at our libraries in Tamworth, Kootingal, Manilla, Nundle and Barraba. The programs are for children and young people aged between five and eighteen years.”

“These programs help develop curious minds in a positive environment where friendship and learning can flourish,” said Ms Allwell. 

Tamworth Sports Dome

Does your child have a tonne of energy to burn? Escape from the heat at the Tamworth Sports Dome, with activities starting from Tuesday 11 January.

Tamworth Sports Dome Program Officer Jennifer Atfield said: “With seven indoor multi-purpose courts and eighteen outdoor courts, we can guarantee your child will be kept busy.”

“Our day programs will run from 9am until 4pm, and will include activities such as fencing, pickle ball, golf, futsal and table tennis and more,” said Mrs Atfield.

Tamworth, Barraba, Manilla and Nundle Libraries

Those with a curious mind will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty with gardening activities, building a cubby house, or learning how to code using the platform Scratch.

Tamworth City Library Coordinator STEAM Jonathon Stilts said library activities across Tamworth, Kootingal, Barraba, Manilla and Nundle libraries have been very popular. 

“For those who may not be able to attend our program in person, we also have a number of activities that can be done online via the Central Northern Regional Libraries (CNRL) website,” said Mr Stilts.

Tamworth Regional Gallery

Workshops on watercolour painting, creative collage, and poetry have been booked in at the Tamworth Regional Gallery’s Esther Halliday Studio this January.

Tamworth Regional Gallery Education Officer Emma Stilts said: “We have all the equipment so children can create a masterpiece to take home to show their family.”

Tamworth Regional Youth Centre

Those enrolled at the Tamworth Regional Youth Centre school holiday program will have the chance to participate in a number of musical, online, and outdoor activities in January.

Tamworth Regional Youth Centre Coordinator Haley Fenn said: “We are excited about the two free excursions we have organised to Olympic Pool and laser tag. Transport is provided but we have limited numbers so book in today!”
