Poem Beryl Henshaw

RAIN

I wake to hear the drumming rain

As it falls down from the sky

And nourishes the earth below

That once was brown and dry

The gutters soon are flowing

They make a gurgling sound

And puddles soon are forming

In the hollows in the ground

The people scurry here and there

Umbrellas held up high

And try to find a sheltered spot

To keep them warm and dry

Though it can be dismal

Its needed to survive

For we would die without it

It keeps all life alive

So when the rain comes tumbling down

Embrace it healing powers

For the rainbow will return again

When the sun shines through the shower
