Miss Marshall's year 5/6 class are busy preparing for their performances of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical at the end of next term. Following auditions students have been cast in their parts. They are currently rehearsing the play with scripts. Next term students will start their visits to The Playhouse Hotel to practise and have rehearsals. The students are also making props and sets.

Last week four St Joseph’s students were joined by two students from Barraba Central School to make their First Reconciliation at St John’s Church. This was a beautiful service in the presence of family and staff. This sacrament marks an important milestone in the faith development and journey of these children. We continue to keep them in our prayers.

Students also held an art show at school last week. Students from Yr 5/6 displayed their dragon eye artworks along with another artwork they had made based on their research of a significant artist from history. Other students and staff visited the art show and really enjoyed the artworks and talking to the artists. The dragon eye was based on the book the class has been reading this term: The Glimme by Emily Rodda. The illustrations by Marc McBride have inspired the students. Students also each displayed an artwork from an art appreciation they completed independently. The students each chose their own artist, made an interpretation of a work and wrote an information report. The artists ranged from Michaelangelo to the contemporary American painter Leonid Afremov.
