1st round of the Club Championship

Players contested the first round of our Club Championships on Sunday playing for a trophy donated by Amanda Koopman. The Club Championship format now allows players to take their 2 best scores over the first 3 rounds of play with it being compulsory to play and include the 4th and final round.

Our Men’s Club Championship first round leader is Chris Sweeney who carded a very good 2 over par 73 to currently lead by one shot from Peter York on 74. Other players just off the pace include Kevin Kelaher 79, Peter Simpson 82, Trent Hartwig 82, Tom Mellor 83, Ian Cabot 83.and David York 85. It’s a wonderful achievement to see Davo post a score below his age. It’s something we would all like to do but few of us will.

In our Ladies Club Championship Amanda Koopman 82 is our first round leader 10 shots clear of Lib Thompson.

Chris Sweeney has been hitting the ball well lately and his 73 off the stick gave him a very good net 61 to claim Amanda’s trophy. I don’t think it will be long before Chris is down into single figures. Runner up in the net event was Lib Thompson net 66 with balls going to David York 67, Trent Hartwig 67, Liam Johnston 67, Peter Simpson 68, Amanda Koopman 69, Gary Allen 69 and Ian Cabot 69. NTPs went to Chris Sweeney 3rd, Firmen Allan 6th and Peter York 16th.

Next week we will play an Individual Stableford for a trophy donated by Graham Bowman. The week after May 28th Barraba is hosting the Barraba Ladies Open.
