Last week Kevin Anderson told Barraba Rugby officials that they were successful in gaining a ‘Stronger Communities Grant’ for $678073 for upgrading facilities at the Rugby Club.

One of the main items to be addressed will be the new change rooms for female players which will allow them to get ready in their own quarters instead of sharing with the men, with specific times for use so they don’t clash.

Other improvements to take place will include a First Aid room, store room, referees change room, rumpus room for the young ones and more space in the Club area.

The Clubhouse has been used and hired for several functions over the years and should prove to be more accessible to many more organisations on the completion of the work.

The grounds and the facilities have been used by the schools for carnivals, football, cross country, with junior cricket and junior rugby (one of the biggest carnivals in the north) touch football, senior cricket and Central North rugby training camps. So, with the additions, all these sports bodies will have better facilities available.

Training is going well on Tuesday nights with reasonably good numbers attending. The first game is on April 9th in Narrabri followed by a bye weekend over Easter.
