Golf and pink fundraising very successful

Golf Charity Day

The Barraba Community is well known for its generosity in supporting a worthy cause and Sunday’s Breast Cancer Research Golf Day again showed what a wonderful town we live in. Close to $5000 was raised for research as 4 person teams, many wearing something pink, battled it out over 9 holes.

The winning team of Julie Trotter, Trent Taylor, Christine Shuttleworth and Tayla King carded a very good 2 under off the stick to finish just ahead of the team of Lincoln Brown, Tom Mellor, Jock Mallise and Shane visiting from Tamworth.

Players soon forgot their “near misses” and “if only’s” out on the course with a BBQ lunch and Auctioneer Simon Koopman ensuring Breast Cancer Research were the real winners on the day. President Will Sedgwick thanked everyone for supporting the annual day. He thanked the trophy and auction prize donors and made special mention of Ken Faulkner who has kindly donated a Perpetual Breast Cancer Research trophy that will be played for each year. In closing Will thanked the Golf Club volunteers who work behind the scenes to ensure the success of these days and also made special mention of the refreshment truck drivers Lachie Smith and Banjo Robinson who were kept busy during the afternoon. All in all a wonderful day.
