Historical Museum has a 'Former Barraba Schools' project
Revisiting Former Barraba Schools
This year the Nandewar Historical Museum is having a special focus on revisiting schools that existed in the past in our area. To do this we are calling on the local community who may have attended or be a member of a family who attended school at one of the thirty schools.
The first is an invitation to hear from and share experiences which can be shared with the Barraba community .Following this we are hoping to locate where the schools existed and landmarks which may remain. We are hoping present land and property owners may be willing to assist.
An opportunity will be arranged to share and recall any memories and stories to support their connection with the
school concerned.
Towards the end of the year when we have gathered information, locations and stories we are holding a bus tour to some of the locations and will be visiting these sites. An invitation is extended to interested community members to join the members of the museum and share lunch.
Please contact Carolyn Faint or Lesley Grigg or any current member of the Museum to register your interest. Carolyn’s email address carolyn.faint@gmail.com
Lesley’s email address paullesley.g1@bigpond.com
We are usually at the Museum on Friday morning so feel welcome to call in and have a chat.
