Barraba v Narrabri in Rugby

Rugby Report
Women’s Match
Final Score: Narrabri 70 – Barraba 0
The Barraba women showed determination and heart against a strong Narrabri side, who ultimately proved dominant on the scoreboard. With little opportunity to get the ball, the women struggled to get into the game. Despite the final scoreline, Barraba’s defensive efforts were commendable, with Jemma and Brooke standing out for their relentless tackling and commitment across the field.
A standout moment came from Kiah, whose break through the defensive line had the crowd on edge. It looked almost certain to be Barraba’s breakthrough try, but unfortunately, she was pulled down just short of the line.
While the result didn’t go their way, the Barraba women displayed grit and flashes of promise that they’ll look to build on in future rounds.
Men’s Match
Final Score: Narrabri 31 – Barraba 12
In a physical and competitive encounter, the Barraba men went toe-to-toe with Narrabri for much of the match but ultimately fell short on the scoreboard. Similar to the women’s, the Narrabri men had the ball for the beginning section of the game, making it hard for Barraba to get momentum in the beginning. Although Liam and Isaak crossed the line for Barraba’s two tries, showing strong support play and finishing under pressure.
The match was not without its challenges — three yellow cards to Barraba disrupted momentum and left the side scrambling at key moments. Despite this, Brandon made several impressive runs from halfback, sparking attacking opportunities, while Kane Ward held firm in defence with several try-saving tackles.
Although not the result Barraba had hoped for, there were plenty of positives to take away as they continue to build cohesion and intensity in the season ahead.
