Meet the Aged Care trainer for Barraba
MEET THE AGED CARE TRAINER
Bernadette Meppem
Bernadette has over 30 years' experience in the nursing industry and more than six years as a trainer and assessor. She has established skills in aged care practice, leadership, communication, planning and coordination. Bernadette transitioned from midwifery to aged care in 2006, when she commenced a Care Manager position with Whiddon Group in Wee Waa. From there, she spent several years as Director of Care at Fairview Retirement Village Moree and obtained her qualification in training and assessment in 2016 so that she could share her knowledge with others.
Bernadette is dedicated to seeing her students succeed in their aged care careers. She views her role as a trainer more as a mentorship role:
“I want to empower our next generation of workers to become knowledgeable and kind carers who practice mindfulness in their communications and interactions with the elderly, ensuring the best outcomes for everyone.”
