Aged and Disability training at the Community College

12th April 2023

Community College campuses in the Northern Inland are launching the latest aged care and disability training starting Term 2.

The training has been specifically designed as blended learning to meet the needs of local students looking for a way to better manage the growing demands of life, work and learning. Students can earn while they learn through work and fully-supported, part-time study.

The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support – Ageing + Disability Specialisations is designed to give students the current skills and knowledge needed to work in residential care, home and community support, and disability settings. This qualification gives graduates the option to work in a range of roles that may include: aged care; respite care; disability services; direct care; home help; personal care; or support worker.

The recent updates to the Community Services training package including aged care and disability training were made to meet changed industry and employer expectations. Students undertaking study with the college can be confident they are enrolling in the latest training without the need to transition to an updated qualification during or after their study.

VET Manager, Vicki Zammit has ensured that the Individual Support training offered by the College will give graduates the best employment outcome possible:

“The elective units delivered by the College have been carefully selected to provide students with a dual qualification that offers graduates more employment options when working locally. The qualification includes 15 units, with a focus on in-demand clinical skills that weren’t in the previous training package.”

The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support can be completed in around 10 - 11 months and is an ideal course for students who wish to undertake a traineeship, return-to-work mums, career changers, or people looking for part-time work with hours that suit their financial needs and lifestyle. The qualification can also act as a learning pathway to further study; by undertaking the enrolled nurse and/or university study to become a Registered Nurse.

Fully subsidised training places are available for eligible people who want to start or progress their career in the rewarding community care sector by enrolling in the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support. This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.
