On Saturday night a very good crowd turned up to the Rugby Club for the Annual Sponsorship Night, which saw spirited bidding for logos on shorts, jumpers and Club space.
The auction was done by President, Simon Koopman, who drew bids from all around the room which netted a substantial fund to help in running of the Club for this season. Thanks must go to the sponsors for their continued support year after year, as without this the Club struggle each year.
The night started with our guest speaker, Gary Walsh, who spoke about his experience playing, coaching, refereeing and his task as the Development Officer for the North West over a number of years.
‘Walshy’ will be taking an active role with coaching for the season and said he was pleased to see so many at training. His main idea is to improve the ball skills of the players, which will provide the teams with much more opportunities to improve their game and also that of the team.
The night was completed with a seafood dinner and a salad if you wished to try both. Congratulations to the girls for their organisation of the evening.
The season starts the week before Easter and it is against Narrabri on the 9th April with Narrabri having a home game. If you wish to come and play the game, training is on Tuesday nights, for now, so see you there.
