Sailing on Lake Keepit 3rd Oct 21

6th October 2021

Lake Keepit Sailing Report for Sunday 3rd October, 2021

A fleet of twelve sailing boats took part in Sunday’s main race, The Head of the River Heat 1. (a five-heat series)

The quickest boat on the water by far was an A-Class catamaran sailed by Tim Caslick who lead the fleet around the bay triangle and then off up the lake, past the Sport and Recreation Centre and westward into an unfamiliar bay! (due to the rising water levels a different shore line has developed) This is our passage race series, as opposed to sailing around three buoys in a triangular fashion. It also gives sailors a different perspective of our vast Lake Keepit at its fullest.

Tim Caslick took line honours in an excellent display of speed sailing, and filled 3rd place on Personal Handicap.

Full Race Results:

1st Mick Bradfield, sailing a laser

2nd Hugh Evans, sailing a laser

3rd Tim Caslick, sailing an A-Class catamaran

There was also a morning race for the four early arrivals, and the placings were:

1st Hugh Evans, laser

2nd Robert Kelly, sailing a laser radial

3rd Drew Green, a Nacra 5.2 catamaran

4th Tim Caslick, A-Class catamaran

Next Sunday is the Commodore’s Shield race to start at 1300 hours.
